Champion of Poor passed away!

vpsingh.jpgWhile India was on war against terror. It lost one of its influential  leader, who led to a paradigm shift in Indian politics. Former Indian Prime Minister Mr. Vishwnath Pratap Singh passed away on Nov 27th, 2008. The news was overshadowed, and went unnoticed. Indian will remember his decision in Aug 1990 when he gave 27 per cent jobs reservation to the backward classes, popularly referred to as Mandal. It threw up to host of Oppressed backwards community leaders who have rules north Indian since the 90’s. It gave new hope and justice to OBC. It gave new wave of Dalit politics. However Mandal made VP singh an object of hate among middle classes Indian.  The OBC reservation quota was uplifted a step further by congress last year. It went in for 27% quota for OBCs in institution of higher study. Which became serious controversial issue over cast against individual merits.   He is also remembered for his role to dethrone late Rajiv Gandhi from the first non-congress coalition government at the center in 1989. It bring together disparate opposition parties in one entity called the Janta Dal, which became the centerpiece of the coalition, inducted regional parties to form the National Front, and elicited the support of both the left and the BJP from the outside.

The 77-year-old leader, who has been battling blood cancer for over 17 years and renal failure, breathed his last in the Apolo Hospital.

Not same Mumbai again!

The smoke that still billowed from two of the city’s landmark hotels, the seige was still on its peak. The death toll was still raising. The chaos and fears was still gripping the hearts and minds. The inefficient, slow and confused rescue operation was still in place. All mess in one and and still  One question, Who carried out the attacks and for what?

Perhaps, It will not be another strong and resilient acquainted Mumbai. As we are familiar with. It won’t be the same SenSex pretending like it never happened on A Wednesday. It won’t be the same Mumbai that will keep rattling as like nothing went chaos.  Is the idea of secure & safer India has begun to shatter? will the dream of a secure and democratic society will remain mere in coffee bar and debates?  A volley of questions …!

It was literally a battleground,. South Mumbai had abundance of chaos. Such a menace, you   have only seen in a movie.  People were screaming, indiscriminate fire were on raise, fiercely competitive local media channels have its own compulsion, all the way I see live anti-terrorist actions deploying, finer details on  commando operation and clear footage on how troops were against the terrorist who by then owned a 3rd eye  and our media crews were  feeding it  live visual footage.

The new form of terror that struck Mumbai on Wed night , 26th Nov, 2008 has left every single  Indian numb, insecure and helpless. This very moment Nobody has felt  safe. It was  disturbing.  The scale of the aftermath is so staggering. You simply can not forget easily.  Everyone was frightened and suspicious, in dire need of reassurance that the state is up to the job of protecting people  and their  kin, and bringing to justice those out to create havoc in their daily lives.

Though Vibrant Mumbai is not a stranger to attacks and probably no other Indian city has seen more than Mumbai has suffered in the past, but Motive behind this attacks have left few chilling clues. The perpetrator now has  new targets  in the list. They now see  the potentially backbone of Indian economy.

I have utter most regards to the police and defense  force who  gave their life for the people, I salute their supreme sacrifice.  The aftermath of the operation need serious review on the approach Mahrastra Police has taken. I saw brave cops confronting the terrorist without  light weight protective suits.  There were symmetrical attacks. The crowded  railway station, hospital, five star hotels and streets all were in targets. Massive amount of TNT, hand grenades, AK-47s were recovered from hotels. Where was the basic security check up in place. From coastal guard to the basic hotel security, everything seems to have a serious loopholes.

I thought of raising issues, Indian Intelligence needs total revamp with modern approaches. I was shocked to hear that airlifting a commando party were actually  flew from Delhi. There were no  crisis management force  build up in India defense system.  All India needs  a modernization of police forces equipped with state of art technology with full authority to carry out  immediate defensive or offensive measure without wasting precious time.

Lets keep the spirit up and running. I will definitely run for Hyderabad 10K marathon. I will run for those people who suffered from the horrific attacks. I hope this run will unite everyone of us. No matter what religions we belong, whatever differences we have, We  should live in amity. We should live in peace. Today ,We have just have one force to protect us and that is us, ourselves.
